Advising and Scheduling
Initial Scheduling
After you pay your tuition deposit and complete all financial aid paperwork (if applicable) the Registrar’s Office will create your first semester schedule for you. You’ll be scheduled into courses based on the major you declared on your Application for Admission form, unless you notify us of a change.
After your first semester, you’ll meet with your Academic Advisor to discuss the course selection and the registration process.
Customize Your Experience
One of the great things about studying at RMCAD is the unique design and flexibility of our academic schedule. When you enroll, you can customize your experience in a way that best suits your career plans and learning style.
Accelerated, 3-Year BFA
Students who wish to earn their degree more quickly often choose to take courses year-round. By attending classes in the fall, in the spring and during our special Summer Session, you’ll not only save on tuition, but you’ll also begin earning money working as a professional artist or designer one year sooner.
Traditional, 4-Year BFA
Our more traditional students choose to complete their BFA program in a four-year model. This means they usually take classes in the fall and spring, and sometimes pick up additional credits or take special courses during the Summer Session.
Not sure whether a 3 or 4 year program of study is best for you? That’s OK. We encourage students to talk with their Academic Advisor and make that decision during their second semester of enrollment.
Keep in mind… However you choose to progress through RMCAD’s programs of study, you’ll complete the same required number of credit hours and earn a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in your declared field.
Academic Advising
Academic advising is provided by an assigned faculty member and the Director of Academic Advising.
Your advisor will schedule an advising session which will include individualized class scheduling, registration, and time to chat about course content. All degree-seeking students are required to meet with their advisor during registration each term.
