Portraiture in Oil - Sculpted with a Brush

2 day workshop - 12 contact hours. Guest Artist: Evelyn Valdez Martinez.

For a portrait painting to be successful, you need a strongly painted image. You must make decisive and confident decisions. You must first start with a 'great drawing' that captures a good likeness, and a good composition. You must bring in beautiful skin tones that can radiate both warmth and coolness. All this can be captured in paint as you create a three dimensional form, as if sculpting with a brush. In this two day workshop, guest artist, Evelyn Valdez Martinez will review the basics that go into making a great drawing. You will also learn about color temperatures and how to paint beautiful skin tones that are essential for realistic, life like portraits. Evelyn will provide an in-depth demonstration of her painting technique of sculpting with a brush, in oil paint. This workshop is a great follow-up workshop for those students who took the December workshop: Shape, Value, Edge and Color: Finding Your Way!
