Graduates of the Graphic Design + Interactive Media program at RMCAD leave the program with a well-prepared portfolio, excellent communication skills and a commitment to the design discipline. The departmental faculty works with graduates to help them build their confidence and make connections to the current job market for design.
In general, graphic design is a competitive, dynamic field and one that is well established in the Denver metropolitan area. Through a combination of the assistance provided by the RMCAD Career Services division and through faculty contacts, RMCAD graduates have been placed in business throughout the world.
Salaries range from reasonable to notable, with technological skills and internship experience often making a substantial difference. Nationally, an entry-level Designer can expect to earn $27,000 - $35,100.
RMCAD graduates starting salaries have a somewhat broader range: $25,000 - $50,000. As with any profession, as a designer’s work experience increases, so does the average salary. Established designers working in the U.S. earn an average of $80,000 - $90,000 annually.
Placement
Of our 2004–2007 Graphic Design + Interactive Media graduates who are available for placement, 90% are currently working in the field. The overall placement rate for all graduates is 81%.
