4 Weeks - 12 contact hours. Sustainability begins at home. It involves creating a healthy, environmentally responsible, energy efficient and aesthetically pleasing total living environment. Although most of us would choose these qualities for our homes, few know where to begin to create their personal, sustainable living spaces. This course introduces you to the basic principles and practices of sustainable design for homes as well as the latest sustainable residential products, materials and technologies. Local sources for materials, products and sustainable building professionals as well as the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) for Homes rating system also are examined in this course. Whether you are remodeling, updating or building a new home, this course provides valuable information to get you started on the path to sustainable living. Instructor: Debbie Hindman
